Trip One:

Trip Two:

Picking him up forever:

Papa and D playing:

Out for a family stroll:

First night in hotel with Mama and Papa:

Bathtime Fun:

(Papa just had to do the mowhawk thing - it's a parent's right he says)
We made it to Moscow with only a few minor tantrums if you want to call them that. Even the doctor today at D’s medical exam said he thought D might be better than George Clooney in the future with all of his drama!! Troy and I have to agree. Even though real tears will come it is often just the word “no or nyet” that starts them and then a minute later he is fine. We are however not looking forward to the 11 hour flight to Atlanta. We will be praying for sleep!!

Did I mention he hates having his diaper changed? Or that Troy handled his first messy diaper change well ----- well…..semi well. He got it off and ran for the bathroom with the diaper and left D sitting there so I had to run for the wipes and clean him up. It was quite hysterical! We laughed so hard and of course D cried because he hates putting on a new diaper.

We found out today that we will done here in Russia on Friday after our embassy interview at 2:00. Our return tickets aren’t until next Tuesday but we may try to change them and go home a little sooner. I will be emailing our travel agent today.

Otherwise we are doing just fine. D’s first bath went great and of course he cried when we took him out. Troy did bath number 2 and they had a blast. Dad’s are so much fun!!

Sleep is going well also. Last night was a late night due to the flight and traffic and trying to get dinner so Daniel slept in bed with us because we were too tired to get a crib. Plus the first person we asked kept trying to give us a cot. So I rocked him for a few minutes and then just as he was about out he pushed me away and crashed onto the pillow next to me. We had a few exciting moments during the night like when he got up on his knees and shook and crawled into my arms. Then a few hours later to his papa’s arms. At one point he was asleep on top of me with his feet on my chest and his head by my knees. Whatever works.

Tonight was a little different. We put him in the crib for nap and he went right down. Bedtime was another story. He played, laughed and even stood up and nose dived into his pillow. Troy and I were laying on the bed watching trying not to laugh. Then he cried and I got up and he let me hold him again and rock him until he was about out. Then he pushed me away and I put him in the crib and out he went!

We are tired, but a good tired. Of course we worry if we fed him enough, played enough, did the bath right, but I think we must be doing okay. We can’t wait to come home though and make meals at our house, have bath time in our own bathroom and lay him down in his own bedroom.

We miss everyone!!

Rachel, we really hope we see you tomorrow at the Embassy at 2:00pm! And if you don't change your flight, we'll be on flight with you! We're also on the Tuesday flight to Atlanta!

I have been stalking your blog for an update. He is too cute! Men are too funny with the diapers. Shane still freaks out about changing them. Hopefully Daniel overcomes the diaper fear. So glad he enjoyed his bath. We too have the mohawk picture in the tub in Moscow. I guess it's a must.

He is very cute!!! And I agree with Sira, he looks like his Papa. Glad to see things are working out for you. Loved the story about the messy diaper. Good luck with getting your flight change. Thanks for sharing the pictures, did I mention how cute your son is??? CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I think the mohawk in the tub is a family tradition.... I have a picture of Ian somewhere, about the same age, with a mohawk in the the bath. Can't wait to meet Daniel. I brought his picture in to work today to show him off. I'm surprised Troy wasn't gagging during the diaper experience. HAHAHA

Love you guys....have a safe trip home,
Sandy

What a beautiful son you have! It sounds like you are having the time of your life!! I'm so so happy for you! And I thought the same thing as Sira when I saw the photo of your hubby and son sitting together...wow, he looks like dad!! Thanks for sharing the photos!! I was hoping we might get to see your little boy!

I'm wishing you a safe and easy trip home. 11 hours is a long time but each hour is one hour closer to home.

Take care and enjoy your last days in Moscow.

I am soooo happy for you! He is just a handsome little guy. Wow- and those sweet little eyes and sweet little fingers and toes....what a little doll! I know you are both feeling very relieved that this adventure in Russia is coming to an end...unless you are already thinking of another? :D

And really the adventure is just beginning!

Will continue to pray for a safe and happy journey home, especially on the plane ride with a toddler- what fun! I remember!

Rachel,

He is GORGEOUS!!! How in this world does he look so much like you two put together?! Yes, he looks just like Troy, but his eyes are shaped so much like yours! He is such a beautiful child. It sounds like you 3 are having so much fun. Owen hated diaper changes for a while. We had to do them standing up with him bent over a knee at first, but now he lies down with little protest. He didn't like the texture of the changing pad cover so he gets diaper changes on the floor. Your story made me laugh...brought back memories!

I hope you are able to change your tickets to come home sooner. I know you can't wait to have Daniel at home for the first time. It sounds like he's attaching so well already! That's GREAT!

I am so so so happy for you!!

I agree with everyone else, even before I saw their comments, I was thinking does he look just like Troy or what? He's such a Cutie and has amazing eyes!!! The "going for a walk" photo of the three of you is classic. You and Troy with short sleave shirts and little guy bundled up like he's going to play in the snow.

From the stories about your time with little Daniel so far, it sounds like everything is going great. I loved how he slept with you the first night... get used to it! Congratulations again and I sure hope you get to come home early!
