Daniel's new favorite word is bicycle. I must hear it 2,000 times a day. He also calls motorcycles, bicycles. He has taken to carrying around a small toy bicycle with him everywhere he goes. First thing in the morning he asks for it. We even make a big production of setting on his windowsill every night and at nap time so he knows just where it is when he wakes up. Now if only we could teach him how to ride. He doesn't quite understand the concept of the pedals yet and mostly when we push him his feet slip off the pedals or the pedals turn under his feet. If anyone has a recommendation for a easy to ride tricycle, let me know!
Daycare is going well. Last week he cried on Tuesday when I dropped him off, which seems to be the norm. I think after the 4 days at home, Tuesdays become more of an adjustment. On Wednesday and Thursday I got hugs and kisses and smiles and I left. I'm still waiting for his artwork folder, which I have been anxious for, but they are re-doing the room for fall and haven't placed any art in the folders yet.
Our first post pacement report arrives tomorrow (finally) I won't go into details there, and I plan to overnight it to be apostilled and then to our agency for arrival by Friday. I'll be glad to get that out of the way.
Now - a few odd and end pictures!

We have the bicycle/can't peddle thing going on too. My back is killing me after he's been on the bike for 15 minutes from trying to help him keep his feet on. Do they still make those straps for the peddles like we had while we were little?? So glad daycare is going so well - you'll love getting the artwork and they you'll wonder what the heck to do with it all! :-)
Daniel looks like he is really growing and is very healthy!
It probably won't be long before he is riding a bicycle!
He is getting so big! I can't believe it's been almost 6 months since he's been home. Time sure does fly. Good luck with riding the bicycle. And whatever you do, do not lose the bicycle toy.
How sweet that he loves the bicycle. I wish I had suggestions for teaching him to ride. We just kept showing both how to turn the pedals, but we also spent time just pushing them around too. Just think of it as exercise :o)
Congrats on finishing your first post-placement.
P.S. The photos were cute too. Isn't it fun to see their little minds so inquisitive with cameras?
Dmitry also loves his bike. He rides out of the deck with Lydia and makes a HUGE fuss when it is time to come in. I was quizzing him on possible career choices yesterday. Right now, if he likes a suggestion he repeats it and if he doesn't he answers, 'Nooo-ah'. I asked about a veterinarian, nooo-ah. I asked about a pilot, noooo-ah. Then a mechanic? 'mAnn-ic'! Either he was calling his mother a name (which I may deserve that particular title from time to time) or it is as I suspected ... he would make an AWESOME mechanic!
We have the same problem with the tricycle. It took forever for his feet to finally reach the pedals and now he doesn't know what to do. When we push him his feet come off. Let us know if you figure something out; sounds like there are several with this problem.
He sounds so smart to be saying "bicycle." What a hard word! I hope he gets the pedaling down soon. He looks so cute in the pictures!
Hi There, The pictures are so darling. Josh has been trying the trike pedal thing too. I have a tricycle we push and he can keep his feet on the pedals but wasn't able to do anything about that. Now he has watched another child a little older than him pedal and I think it's starting to click. Maybe the peer encouragement will help. Good Luck, but then again, once he gets going... watch out!
Sounds like the day care transition is going smoothly, and you'll have to post photos of the contents of the art folder when you get it! :)
